Ethanol affects the absorption and tissue distribution of orally administered antigens in mice BABT
Oliveira,Flávia Márcia; Gusmão,Leandro José; Cardoso,Valbert do Nascimento; Ramaldes,Gilson Andrade; Ruiz-de-Souza,Valéria; Gontijo,Cristiano Machado.
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of ethanol on the adsorption and tissue distribution of orally administered antigens in mice. Results showed that ethanol reduced the level of anti-ovalbumin IgA antibodies in intestinal fluid for the mice treated orally with a palmitoyl-ovalbumin conjugate. Ethanol was administered intragastrically to mice at 5 g/kg body weight for 14 days (chronic treatment), or 10 g/kg body weight every 7th day up to 14 days (acute treatment). Thereafter, 99m technetium-labeled antigens were administered and lymphoid tissues were collected. Ethanol interfered with the transport of ovalbumin to the liver. Moreover, the transport of palmitoyl-ovalbumin to mesenteric lymph nodes was reduced 6 h after the antigen...

Exercise may cause myocardial ischemia at the anaerobic threshold in cardiac rehabilitation programs BJMBR
Fuchs,A.R.C.N.; Meneghelo,R.S.; Stefanini,E.; De Paola,A.V.; Smanio,P.E.P.; Mastrocolla,L.E.; Ferraz,A.S.; Buglia,S.; Piegas,L.S.; Carvalho,A.A.C..
Myocardial ischemia may occur during an exercise session in cardiac rehabilitation programs. However, it has not been established whether it is elicited when exercise prescription is based on heart rate corresponding to the anaerobic threshold as measured by cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Our objective was to determine the incidence of myocardial ischemia in cardiac rehabilitation programs according to myocardial perfusion SPECT in exercise programs based on the anaerobic threshold. Thirty-nine patients (35 men and 4 women) diagnosed with coronary artery disease by coronary angiography and stress technetium-99m-sestamibi gated SPECT associated with a baseline cardiopulmonary exercise test were assessed. Ages ranged from 45 to 75 years. A second...

Influence of splenectomy on the biodistribution of technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (99mTc-DMSA) in rats BABT
Açucena,Maria Kadja Meneses Torres; Pereira,Kércia Regina Santos Gomes; Villarim Neto,Arthur; Rêgo,Amália Cínthia Meneses; Bernardo-Filho,Mario; Azevedo,Ítalo Medeiros; Araújo Filho,Irami; Medeiros,Aldo Cunha.
This study aimed to evaluate if the splenectomy alters the biodistribution of 99mTc-DMSA and renal function in Wistar rats. The animals were separated in the groups: splenectomy (n = 6) and control (n = 6). After splenectomy (15 days), the administration of 0.1ml of 99mTc-DMSA IV (0.48 MBq) was carried out. Thirty minutes later, kidney, heart, lung, thyroid, stomach, bladder and femur and samples of blood were isolated. The organs were weighed, counted and the percentage of radioactivity /g (%ATI/g) determined. Serum urea and creatinine, hematocrit, leukocytes and platelets were measured. Statistics by t test (p<0.05) was done. There was a significant reduction in %ATI/g in kidney and blood (p<0.05) of splenectomized animals, a significant increase...

Tc-99m direct radiolabeling of monoclonal antibody ior egf/r3: quality control and image studies in mice BABT
Dias,Carla Roberta; Marczewski,Barbara; Moraes,Vanessa; Barboza,Marycel Figols de; Osso Junior,João Alberto.
Monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) have been useful for immunoscintigraphic applications in clinical diagnosis since they were introduced in the practice of nuclear medicine. The ior egf/r3 (Centis, Cuba) is a murine monoclonal antibody against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGF-R) and has been widely used in the radioimmunodiagnosis of tumors of epithelial origin. Labeled with 99mTc, its main application in Nuclear Medicine is the follow up, detection and evaluation of tumor recurrences. The objective of this work is to describe the preparation of a lyophilized formulation (kit) for radiolabeling the Mab ior egf/r3 with 99mTc for immunoscintigraphic applications. Radiolabeling efficiency, effects on immunoreactivity, image studies and stability of the...
